Blue Room Presents | City Sounds: Arcana, Honeyweather, J Chang & the Lover Boys

Arcana is an alternative shoegaze band from Bellingham, WA. Forming in high school in 2019, the band started writing a unique blend of alt rock and indie music before delving into heavier, larger sounds.

A blended shake of 90’s and 70’s sounds, HoneyWeather will get you through your day with enough energy to wistfully smile and wave at the stranger who clearly had the right of way, but insisted you go first.

HoneyWeather’s whimsically nervous sound has been described as “Smooth Grunge” by dads across the Pacific North West.

J. Chang & the Lover Boys formed in Bellingham, Washington in 2024. Led by Jason Chang, who spent eight years performing with a reggae-rock band in Northern California before moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2019, the group emerged after Jason connected with various musicians playing shows with other bands around Bellingham and Skagit Valley.

Drawing inspiration from Sublime, Dispatch, The Eagles, The Expendables, Lake Street Dive, and Jack Johnson, the band crafts a distinctive sound that blends reggae rhythms with rock stylings. This musical foundation serves as the backdrop for lyrics which explore millennial nihilism through a satirical, cynical lens on modern existence.
